The hotel joins the recently renamed Fitzpatrick Hotel Collection, which plans to grow over the next several years, as its second establishment.
Since its founding in 1608, Woodenbridge, which is situated in the Vale of Avoca, has played home to a number of well-known visitors, such as Éamon de Valera, Michael Collins, and Daniel O'Connell.
Managing Director of the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel Mark Scott-Lennon stated, "Our goal is to honour the rich history of the hotel, while bringing the Fitzpatrick family commitment to exceptional service and hospitality."
"We are excited to build on the hotel's legacy and create new traditions that reflect our values and vision for excellence," he stated.
After running the hotel for thirty-one years, Gerard O'Brien expressed gratitude to all of the people who had contributed to Woodenbridge.
"The Fitzpatrick family has built its reputation on strong family values which very much reflect our own and it’s with great pride that we pass on the keys to them today," he stated.
"We’re delighted that they recognised both the quality of our offering and the clear synergies between our hotels, ensuring The Woodenbridge becomes a natural extension of the Fitzpatrick family," he stated.
