Legislation that would prohibit students and their families from having to pay for housing for 51 weeks will be proposed by Ministers of Housing and Further and Higher Education Patrick O'Donovan and Darragh O'Brien.
For most students, who can only afford to pay for the academic year, this is not appropriate.
In order to guarantee that the emergency law is in place for the forthcoming school year, the ministers will request permission to introduce it.
Although it won't be required, students are still welcome to ask to rent the accommodations for an extended length of time.
